The new Adornments & Oddities Collection releases TODAY!!

A portion of this collection contains our new "Adornments" line. 

This is a new line of interchangeable charms and pendants that can be swapped out and customized to create your own unique and collected look.  You can add to it and change it as you like.  I hope to continue to add to this line in the future so you can keep adding charms and pieces, making like a modern day charm necklace!  I may even add some bracelets to this line later.  To explain how it works, you purchase the charms individually.  They will come with a lobster clasp (some are pictured without it but they will all ship with one attached) and you can simply attach it to your necklace and remove it when you want to change your look up.  You can add as many as you like!  When you purchase three or more charms I'll provide you with a necklace or you can purchase one separately.  It has a round ring at the bottom of the necklace making it easy to add and remove charms.

Also in this collection is a number of Alice in Wonderland pieces as well as some items that would be great for Valentine's day!  Lots of "Oddities" to get you excited!

Gypsy Ride Project

I'm sure you remember last year around this time DSG purchased a 1948 Ford panel truck.

Well it's taken a year but we are finally getting the project underway!  Since we are doing all the work ourselves last year distracted us with all of our wonderful blessings but 2012 will be the year of the gypsy ride!  So we will keep you posted on our progress.   The pictures above are part of the "donor" process.  We are using a '78 F100 Ranger pick up truck as a donor truck and harvesting parts and pieces that we can reuse and repurpose on the panel truck.  See...reduce, reuse, repurpose CAN be used in just about all areas of your life.  Here at DSG we believe if you can reuse it, then repurpose it!

It's sort of father son project for my husband and my oldest son (he's 5 now) so it's a labor of love...gypsy love!

He has enjoyed working elbow to elbow with his daddy on it so far and things are just getting fun!

Below is a picture of our little gypsy family back in the spring of last year when I was pregnant for the baby bird with the panel truck in behind us. 

We hope to use the panel truck as the backdrop for many family pictures to come!

The story of our "flock"

You may have noticed the small "flock" of birdies I acquired last year...

So as our flock is expanding this week, I thought I would share the story with you.  A while back, a scrapbook friend of mine posted some pics of her research she had done to find the perfect tattoo for her.  While I'm not normally a huge fun of such a visible tattoo for myself, I saw one she posted that was similar to this one and I feel in love.  No, it's not my first tattoo...no it will most likely not be my last but this one has some significant meaning to me.  When I first got it I wanted it to represent my family and those close to me.  I didn't assign people to each bird or anything but I wanted a grouping of a random number that looked nice and that would represent my family...my support system.  So early last year after MUCH thought and consideration I went and got inked.  A few short months after this, we decided to have another baby to complete our little family.  Suddenly, when I looked in the mirror a few months later I realized that the number in that little flock wasn't random at all.  It was perfect.  When I looked into the mirror that day I saw myself flying high with my soul mate by my side followed closely by our two amazing children and being lifted up by my mother and father.  It all came full circle.  This is our flock.  This is my support.  We are a very tight knit family, gypsies and all!   This is the everyday reminder of the people that have encouraged me to follow my dreams and lifted me up and have always been there for me.  It was a very grounding moment and cherish my flock more than ever.  I wear them proudly with every breath that I take.
